Dr. Amy Stone
Professor of Sociology and Anthropology – Trinity University
Amy (they/them) is Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Trinity University. They are the author of Queer Carnival, Gay Rights at the Ballot Box and Cornyation: San Antonio’s Outrageous Fiesta Tradition, along with being co-editor of Out of the Closet, Into the Archives: Researching Sexual Histories. Their research focuses on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) politics, urban life, and health in the contemporary United States. They are the co-leader of the community-based research project Strengthening Colors of Pride, which focuses on health and well-being for LGBTQ people in South Texas. They also co-lead the Family Housing Me (FHAM) project on LGBTQ youth, relatives, and housing stability, which is funded by the National Science Foundation.

Robert Salcido, Jr.
Executive Director – Pride Center San Antonio
Robert (he/him) has extensive experience working with issues of equity, diversity and inclusion, LGBTQ+ education, and matters of discrimination, making him a sought after consultant, speaker, and facilitator. He’s committed to civic engagement and social justice for underrepresented and historically excluded communities. Robert has been active with The Center since 2011, as a volunteer as well as the Board Chair from 2015 until 2022. He has served in his current role as the Executive Director at Pride Center San Antonio since 2015.
He is a co-director of the community based project, Strengthening Colors of Pride that resulted from his past fellowship with the Interdisciplinary Research Leaders program at the University of Minnesota. The project aims to build a culture of health through community connectedness and data driven initiatives. Salcido has also held past fellowships with Freedom For All Americans and the Victory Institute Foundation.
Salcido serves on the board of directors for Planned Parenthood San Antonio and Planned Parenthood South Texas Surgical Centers and is an active member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committees for the Interdisciplinary Research Leaders program at the University of Minnesota and the Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio. He is a founding member and past president of Orgullo de San Antonio LGBTQ League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 22198. Under his leadership the council achieved District, State, and National Council of the Year in 2016.
Robert was named Most Influential by Out In SA Magazine and 20 Most Captivating by the San Antonio Current in 2015. He was awarded the Alamo Area Region and the Texas State Public Citizen of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers of Texas in 2016, honored for his leadership by the National Diversity Council in 2018 and named ‘Best Community Activist’ by the San Antonio Current in 2019. Salcido is a 2020 inductee into ‘The Honor 41 List’, honoring Latino/a role models across the globe. Most recently, he was listed as one of 20 Influential Latinos in San Antonio by KSAT TV for 2021 National Latino Heritage Month.
Salcido was raised in Amarillo, San Antonio has been his home since 2001. Robert and his husband, Mike, enjoy traveling and playing co-ed softball. They have one fur-baby, a PitBull/Catahoula mix named Cyxx.

Dr. Stacy Speedlin-Gonzalez
LPC-S, LCDC – Salient Clinical Services
Stacy (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor- Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in the state of Texas. I am board certified as a Nationally Credentialed Counselor (NCC). My professional values are demonstrated in my precision and deep commitment to my research, evaluation, and clinical work. I exemplify the core value of equity and inclusive practices through my clinical, research, and scholarly activities. Clinically, I work with people from all walks of life. Most recently, I see a lot of healthcare professionals and first responders. More importantly, I am known for working with various peer assistance programs and licensure boards; I help clients navigate these systems and remain on the road to recovery. I am also a TPAPN and TXPHP-approved evaluator, the monitoring programs for health care professionals.
I am also well known for my work with clients with addiction issues. I believe in healing, restoration, and hope. I am humbled by the work I get to do with others. Counseling and clinical consultation is the greatest privilege of my life. As an agent of change, I value the courage of my clients and do not take their willingness to come to counseling lightly. This inspires me to do my best work.
Embracing my dream: I am the owner and Executive Director of Salient Clinical Services – a company created to provide optimal clinical, evaluative, and consulting services. I am also a nationally recognized speaker; having given multiple talks and workshops on the topics of mentorship, relationships, LGBTQ+ Ally-Development, and Cultural Responsiveness. Additionally, I have published several book chapters and peer-reviewed manuscripts on addiction, trauma, mentorship, and grief.
